Off the Californian Coast - 16 April

All is fine on the good ship Singapore.

We had to do a 360° turn at the start because apparently we were slightly over the line, but by the time we got the Golden Gate Bridge we were up with the others. There was good upwind sailing away from the start.

Close quarters with Edinburgh at the start

Powering away from San Francisco

I had 24 hours of being rather nauseous so couldn't eat the lovely supper of spag bog on the first night.

I was on mother watch yesterday with Phil, so he cleared up the dishes the night before and I got up at 5am to prepare breakfast. Our meals went down well, especially the apple crumble for pud. We are eating well, as we were on leg 2.
Leaving Oakland

I went up for my first watch at midnight. We have been flying a kite (spinnaker) for the past 24 hours. All three have been up already. At 3am we gybed the kite so I didn't get to bed until nearly 4 and consequently only had 1½ hours sleep. My most recent watch was also prolonged after a kite change requiring my watch to pack the down coming kite. I'll sign off now because I need to have a wash and sleep. Looking forward to being on deck this afternoon.
