Well we worked hard in light airs to get 1 point at the
scoring gate. We are all very pleased about that. However it does mean that the
boats who knew they weren't going to get any points could cut the corner around
Cuba and overtake us in the race standings. However, there's very little
distance between all the boats in the fleet and very light airs in the day
time.
This means it's very hot in the middle of the day and “burney”
sun. I'm certainly developing quite a sun tan.
The banter continues to be entertaining and general
conversations can go for hours, while we now sit on the low side rail to get
some heal in the boat.
We've had two birthdays in the last few days so there was
extra special cake at 5 o'clock. Such are the luxury's we appreciate.
Life gives you very different priorities at any time on
a race boat, but especially in the rough weather. You think about when you can
get chance to clean your teeth, how to manage having limited clothes and when
to wash them, etc. Despite this the thrill of the chase is compelling.
